How signatures are added to email aliases using Sigsync?

With Sigsync Email Signatures for Office 365, you can add signatures to email aliases in both server-side and client-side signatures. The alias is an alternate email address that you can use instead of your primary email address. They are useful in combating spam, if you do not wish to share your personal email address with everyone. In order to make use of AD fields in an alias email address, this article presents custom attributes as a workaround.
To set up email aliases for an Office 365 account
- Login to Office 365 account
- Click on 'Admin' to open the Office 365 admin center.
- Select 'Active users' under 'Users'.
- Click on a user, whose alias you want to set.
- Go to the 'Account' tab and click the 'Manage username and email' link under 'Aliases'.
- Enter a Username and click 'Add' to create an alias for that email address. Click on the 'Save changes' button at the bottom.
- As soon as your changes are saved, you will receive a confirmation message stating 'Changes saved successfully' as shown.
To set up Office 365 custom attributes for a user
- Go to the 'Mail' tab as shown below, under 'More Actions' click on the 'Edit Exchange properties' link.
- Click on 'More options' to display custom attributes.
- Now click on the 'Edit option ( ) to modify the custom attributes for users.
- You can enter the alias email address that you have previously created. Click on 'OK' and click the 'Save' button to save the changes. After this you will get a confirmation message stating 'Saving completed successfully'.
To add Sigsync email signature to the alias address
- Log in to Sigsync Dashboard
- Select the 'Manage Signatures' < 'Signature Editor' tab
- Drag and drop the 'Custom AD' field into the signature design area. Select the 'customAttribute' to which you have added your alias email address from the previous section. Save the template changes.
- Go to Sigsync 'Settings' and click the 'Sync AD Changes Now' to update the custom attributes that you have set in the previous section.
- Now, go to the 'Signature Rules' page and select 'All senders' in the 'Senders' tab. The alias email address should be selected in the senders section for the email signature to get appended for this address. Click on 'Save Changes' to save the rule changes.
